Community Service

Community Service is an important component to students’ development at RCHS. Our goal is to make service a way of life as students move beyond high school into their adult lives. To achieve this end, students are required to log a minimum of four hours of service in their home church and four hours serving in the community for a total of at least eight hours of service each quarter. Students also participate in a Service Day where the entire high school student body spends a day or half-day serving in the community.

Finding opportunities for service can seem challenging at first. As ambassadors for Christ in the world, we need to develop eyes to see where help is needed and serve in those areas. Some students may work in their church’s nursery while others who are gifted in organizing might help clean out a closet. Community service could involve serving at a community event such as the Energy Fair or Science Fair or simply raking leaves for an elderly neighbor.
