July 13 email:
Hello Middle School Families!!
Can you believe that in less than five weeks we will be back to school? I hope you are all enjoying a restful, replenishing, memory-filled summer with your families.
Middle School Supply List: Since the school supply sales have begun, we thought you all might want your Middle School supply list. We tried to make the list as thorough as possible. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. The supply list: 2025 Supply List
Note: We encourage all students to have supplies BY the first day of school to encourage a feeling of organization and confidence about the new year. Supplies that are collected will be stored and made available to students throughout the year as their own supplies are depleted.
More Middle School information will be e-mailed home in the next few weeks as we prepare to start the year. We are particularly mindful of incoming 6th graders and families that are new to RCS (WELCOME!) who might have questions. If we don’t get those answered, let us know.
Thinking ahead…
Spiritual Emphasis Retreat: Our annual Spiritual Emphasis Retreat is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, August 27 & 28. The Spiritual Emphasis Retreat is a two-day retreat that includes small group discussion, whole-group teachings, and plenty of time to get to know each other through games and fun. The retreat has proven invaluable to set the spiritual and social tone of the school year. We are sending out permission slips early (CLICK HERE) to help us with the planning process. We will need enough drivers to transport all 175 students to and from camp. You can sign up on the permission slip. If it’s too early to commit, we will be asking for drivers again in August.
New Retreat Location: We have truly been blessed with a growing Middle School population. To accommodate our larger group, with much prayer and consideration, we have decided to move our fall retreat to The Summit located in Whitmore. We believe this venue will better meet our needs and give us even more growing room in the future.
- The cost of the retreat is $130 per camper (billed to your tuition). The cost covers lodging, meals, and access to all of the buildings and activities that the facility offers (which are many).
SER Chaperones: We will need 7-9 male chaperones for our retreat. We have plenty of female staff to chaperone, but because we no longer have the same space restraints, we will allow a limited number of moms to attend as chaperones as well . Please note the following for all chaperones :
- The cost for chaperones is $130 (since we are paying a per person fee for the facility).
- The AB 506 law that took effect in January 2022 requires parent volunteers for overnight trips to have a LIVE SCAN done and take the Mandated Reporter Training provided through Church HR Network (online). These requirements must be met before the first day of school
- If anyone would like to be a chaperone, please respond to this email* ASAP and I will get you what is needed for the “next step” (many of you have already completed these steps). We will be limiting our total chaperone number, so not all requests will be honored.
*Note: If you have already contacted me about serving as a chaperone, please respond to this email to confirm that you are aware of the retreat changes. Thanks.
More details and reminders will be sent home in August.
Blessings to you all! We have already been in prayer for our new year and for all of you. We will see you soon! Mrs. Henry -MS Lead Teacher
