Redding Christian Middle School
Welcome to Redding Christian Middle School!
We are grateful that you have taken the time to learn more about our school community. At Redding Christian Middle School, we are committed to partnering with families to educate, encourage, and equip students during these important middle school years.
Middle school is a time of growth, questions, and new challenges. Our dedicated teachers and staff walk alongside students with care and intention, offering strong academics, biblical truth, and Christ-centered character development. Through prayer, Scripture, and meaningful relationships, we encourage students to live out their faith with confidence and compassion.
At RC Middle School, you will find a community that values excellence, integrity, service, and grace. We are thankful for the trust families place in us and consider it a privilege to invest in the next generation of leaders and disciples.
We look forward to partnering with you and welcoming your family into our school community. May God continue to guide and bless our students, families, and staff throughout the year.
In Christ,
Kevin Fry, MS & HS Principal

We view Middle School as a milestone in a student’s life. The days of elementary school are behind them and they are actively preparing for high school. Our desire is that students at this level grow in important areas of freedom, responsibility, and in their walk with Christ.
In August the entire Middle School heads to the mountains for an overnight Spiritual Emphasis Retreat. The retreat allows time for serious conversations, bonding with one another, and worship. This is the age when kids are making a choice for Christ for themselves. Spiritual Emphasis Retreat provides an amazing opportunity for Middle School students to commit or recommit their lives to Christ.
Throughout the year every opportunity for discipleship is taken. Weekly chapels, Bible classes, and one-on-one mentoring are regularly found on campus. Redding Christian Middle School students stand out from the crowd. The school culture embraces mutual respect and acceptance of others. When incidents come up we believe in restorative action. We stand for justice, but love is always at the core of our conversations with students.
Opportunities to participate in athletics, music, and drama are open to all students. This gives students a chance to discover their gifts and talents and assists us with our goal of preparing these students for high school.
Academics are designed to challenge the student but consideration is given to the whole child. We believe that while students should be expected to succeed academically, they also need to have time for family and church activities.

Spiritual Emphasis Retreats offer students meaningful opportunities for spiritual growth, reflection, and connection.
Our Middle School Spiritual Emphasis Retreat is a two-day experience designed to encourage spiritual growth, build community, and set a positive foundation for the school year. During the retreat, students participate in small group discussions, whole-group teachings, and guided times of reflection that help them explore their faith in an age-appropriate and meaningful way.
In addition to teaching and discussion, the retreat includes games, team-building activities, and shared experiences that give students plenty of opportunities to connect with their peers and strengthen relationships in a fun, welcoming environment. These moments help students feel known, supported, and valued within the school community.

Curriculum Overview
The course study of Redding Christian School strives to be among the most rigorous available. The Middle School curriculum builds upon knowledge of basic facts and skills, and then broadens and connects those facts with deeper meaning and higher-level, integrated concepts. Expecting students to enter sixth grade with a mastery of elementary mathematics and English reading and writing skills, the Middle School experience prepares them for a college preparatory high school by offering a skill-based curriculum.

BAND - MUSIC - FINE ARTS - YEARBOOK - ART
Band & Music
Our Band elective is offered to students in grades 5–12, providing a structured and encouraging pathway for musical growth at every level. Fifth-grade students begin their journey in our Beginning Band, where they learn the fundamentals of music, proper instrument technique, and ensemble performance in a supportive, hands-on environment. This introductory experience helps students build confidence, develop discipline, and discover a love for music.
As students progress into Middle School, they continue their musical development in our Intermediate Band program. At this level, students refine their technical skills, expand their musical knowledge, and grow as collaborative performers through more advanced repertoire and ensemble experiences. Emphasis is placed on musicianship, teamwork, and continued skill development, preparing students for higher-level performance opportunities in the years ahead.
Fine Arts Expression
Our Fall Musical unites ages 9 through 18 in a full-scale Broadway-style production for the Cascade Theatre stage. These shows are performed for the public and have drawn a following from not only our school and parents, but also community members as well.
In the Spring, 7th through 12th-grade students audition for our Spring Dramatic Production. The plays vary from light-hearted fun to Shakespeare and are performed in our own facilities. The Spring Drama has been a long-standing favorite for many years.
Our middle school has participated in Aladdin Jr, Mary Poppins, Little Women, Into the Woods, The Enchanted Bookshop, and so many more!
Yearbook: Capturing Community
The Yearbook class provides students with hands-on experience in photography, graphic design, and editorial writing. Students collaborate as a team to document school life and produce a high-quality yearbook that reflects the spirit of the school community.
Students are challenged to capture their classmates during athletic games, classroom activities, and Spirit Days like Homecoming!
Art: Creative Expression
Art is offered to middle and high school students. In addition, a Graphic Design class is offered to high school students. Students learn about art history, becoming familiar with a variety of classical and modern artists in combination with various art movements. Art and Graphic Design are places for students to learn and examine the elements and principles of visual design while using that experience in the creation of their own individual artwork. Creative thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to take risks are strongly encouraged.
Competing with Purpose
LIONS Athletics for Middle School includes flag football, volleyball, cross country, basketball, and girls soccer!
Middle School athletics provide students with the opportunity to grow in confidence, teamwork, and character while developing fundamental athletic skills. Through practices, games, and competition, students learn the value of effort, sportsmanship, and supporting one another as teammates.
Our athletic program emphasizes playing with integrity and purpose, encouraging students to compete with excellence while reflecting strong character on and off the field. Middle School sports help students build healthy habits, meaningful friendships, and a positive foundation that prepares them for future athletic and personal growth.
Middle School competes with local schools like Sequoia, Boulder Creek, UPrep, Grant, Mountain View, and Parsons. Our teams are highly competitive, consistently contending for league championships and tournament victories each season.

What is Early Release?
Early Release is scheduled every other Wednesday. On these days, students are dismissed earlier than the regular school day so that teachers and staff can participate in collaboration, planning, and professional development.
This dedicated time allows teachers to review student progress and data, collaborate on lesson planning and curriculum, participate in professional development and training, and improve instructional practices to better support students. Early Release days help ensure that teachers have the time they need to strengthen instruction while minimizing disruption to the regular school schedule.
Students are dismissed at:
Kindergarten 1:50 pm
PK/pm,1st - 5th Grade 2:00 pm
Middle School & High School 2:10 pm
Families should plan for early dismissal on these Wednesdays. Specific dismissal times and dates are available on the school calendar here.
Is Redding Christian School accredited?
Our school is a member of and fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Redding Christian School offers the highest quality education for the total child – spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical. Our goal is to provide a positive, nurturing atmosphere where each student will discover his or her area of giftedness.
How much does it cost to attend?
We intentionally do not post our tuition rates online because we don't want you to make a decision this important based on price alone. Need-based financial aid is available. When you come in for your Education Consult, the Admission Counselor will cover all of that information with you. While many schools don't charge tuition, the price that your student pays in terms of values and damaged self-esteem may be too high. Though Redding Christian School charges tuition, the quality education, outstanding staff, and students, along with the opportunity to flourish, are priceless. Contact us to learn more!
Are there tuition discounts?
Multiple child discounts pertain to immediate family members only. The first child is the child at the highest grade level. Multiple child discounts do not apply to Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten. Contact our Admissions Director here for more details.
Does Middle School offer sports?
Yes! We offer girls' volleyball, flag football, co-ed and girls soccer (2 seasons), girls and boys basketball, cross country, and, as of 2026 a ski team! Interested in watching LIONS in action? Check out our athletic schedules here!
