Redding Christian School is focused on developmentally appropriate activities where children learn social and emotional skills, motor skills, positive conflict resolution, math, writing, science, and pre-reading skills in a fun and engaging classroom environment.

We offer our Preschool from 7:30-12:00 (half-day sessions) or 7:30-4:30 (full-day sessions) Monday through Friday (excluding all school breaks and holidays designated on our yearly calendar). Students can be enrolled for a minimum of 3 days up to a maximum of 5 days per week. Due to our small class size, a commitment for the number of days per week needs to be made at enrollment. Class times are designed to assist working parents but the drop off time is flexible, it is preferred that students arrive by at least 9:00. We expect pick up times to be honored in respect to our staff. Extra fees will be assessed for late pickup.

Our Preschool Program is designed for students who will be three or an early four-year-old by the time school starts in August.  Students must be completely potty trained and able to perform their basic toileting needs independently.

Pre-Kindergarten Program

The Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) program at Redding Christian School and Preschool is committed to high standards of academic excellence. Our curriculum is an accelerated one and therefore requires diligence on the part of the student. It also takes active cooperation on the part of the home to accomplish our goals, including homework. It is designed to prepare them for success in Kindergarten. Our Pre-K program includes fun daily enrichment activities that encourage and stimulate the learning process.

We offer our Pre-K classes from 8:00-11:00 (AM class) or 11:45 -2:45 (PM class). There is a thirty-minute snack and recess time in each session. Class sizes are approximately twelve students to one teacher or can be eighteen students to one teacher and a teaching assistant. This allows the teacher to spend quality time with each child every day.

Our Pre-K program is designed for students who will be four or an early five-year-old by the time school starts in August.

Farm Field Trip - HorseField Trips

Excursions away from school are valuable for our students. Opportunities are given to explore various aspects of our community, which reinforce our curriculum or offer ministry experiences. Only Pre-Kindergarten students participate in field trips.

Homework

There is no homework in Preschool.

In preparation for Kindergarten, Pre-K students will be assigned homework. Homework is a necessary part of a school that reinforces what is taught during the school day. This provides an opportunity for the parent to become involved in the educational process of the child.

To assist you in encouraging and supporting your child in this endeavor, and to hold the students accountable, the Pre-K teacher sends weekly homework assignments home with each student.

Special Days

Several “special” days are part of our Redding Christian School and Preschool tradition. They include; Grandparents Day, Career Day, Missions Week, and School Spirit Days. The students always look forward to these special days. The Pre-K class has many additional enrichment events throughout the school year.

Dress Code

Students in both Preschool and Pre-K do not have a strict dress code. It is required that they do not wear pajamas (unless on a dress-up day) and that their shoes have a back strap (no flip flops). To protect the girl’s modesty, they are required to wear shorts under skirts or dresses. Please no skulls or inappropriate images. All clothing should be clean, neat, and free of holes or tears.

Students who may have an occasional potty accident should have an additional set of clothing in their backpack each day.

Naps/Quiet Time

Preschool (or students in Pre-K who are in Aftercare between 12:30pm-2:30pm)

State regulations require that all children rest for a period of time each day which will be provided for your child from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm every day. Each child uses personal bedding from home. Cots are provided by the school. Parents are required to have a SMALL blanket and travel-size pillow (pillow optional) in their child’s backpack for naptime. These items will be returned to the backpack each day and should be laundered at home periodically. We do not store any bedding on campus. Please print your child’s name boldly on his/her nap items.

After School Care

After-school care is available for Pre-K students if space is available. Parents need to let their child’s teacher know in advance if using after-school care. Pre-K students will join the Preschool students after their class time is over (11:00 or 2:45). An additional fee is assessed based on the length of time used for Pre-K students using after-school care. All students will have quiet/nap time starting at 12:30. An additional snack will be needed for students staying late. After-school care is available until 4:30. Please be on time, an additional fee will be assessed for late pickup.

There is no after-school care available for Preschoolers signed up for half days. If additional care is needed beyond 12:00, parents must sign up for full-day Preschool.
